Heart of the Community: St. Leo Food Pantry
Since 1986, the St. Leo Food Pantry has served as a warm, welcoming lifeline for families across North Fairmount, English Woods, Roll Hill, and Millvale in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Our neighborhood in North Fairmount is designated as a food desert by the USDA, meaning local families face systemic barriers to nutritious meals—from a complete lack of neighborhood grocery stores to limited public transportation options. At St. Leo's, we believe that access to fresh, healthy food is a fundamental human right, and we work tirelessly to bridge that gap with care, respect, and open arms. In 2024 alone, our dedicated community opened its doors to feed an astonishing 17,756 neighbors, serving approximately 1,500 people each month.
A Choice Pantry Built on Dignity & Respect
We operate as a Choice Pantry, which means we honor the autonomy and preferences of every guest who walks through our doors. Rather than receiving a pre-packed box, our neighbors shop through color-coded aisles just like a traditional grocery store, selecting food items based on their household size, cultural background, and dietary preferences.
Every shopper is paired with a friendly volunteer shopping escort who offers a warm smile, helps navigate the shelves, and assists in carrying groceries out to their car. Local residents within our service area are welcome to shop with us once per calendar month.

Ways You Can Make a Difference
Volunteer Your Time: Join us as an individual or bring a small team of up to 5 people for a deeply fulfilling hands-on experience. Shifts are available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM. Tasks include sorting incoming donations, organizing shelves, guiding guests through their shopping experience, and loading vehicles.
Become a Monthly Overhead Sponsor: Keeping food fresh for thousands of people takes serious resources. With 8 commercial deep freezers and 5 super refrigerators running around the clock, our monthly electricity and utility costs are substantial. Businesses and individual sponsors can cover our operational expenses for a full month, ensuring our doors stay open and our cooling units stay powered.
Organize a Local Food Drive: Host a collection drive with your school, workplace, church, or neighborhood group. Non-perishable staples, canned proteins, and personal care products help us keep our inventory strong throughout the year.
